- Last child of Ramji Maloji Sakpal, an army officer in Madhya Pradesh,India
- Born into a poor low dalit caste (Mahar)
- Subjected to Socio-Economic Descrimination
- His ancestors worked for the army of British East India Company
- Ambedkar and other fellow students were been ignored and given less attention by the school teachers for being dalits.
- He was not allowed to sit inside the classroom and learn along with other students
- Being a dalit, he was not allowed to take or drink water directly from the public wells. He have to beg the higher class people for water
- He always forced to be sit on a gunny sack, which , he used to take always with him to school.
- Mother died when he was just 10.
- He was been married to a girl, Ramabai, when he was 15 years old.
- He was the first untouchable, who entered the College education.
- He worked as a Private Tutor, an Accountant, a consultant. But, failed when he was known as an untouchable dalit to his clients.
- He was a successful teacher to his students. But, the other teachers objected to his sharing and drinking water-jug with his students.
- While practicing law in Bombay High Court, he tried to promote education to untouchables and uplift them.
- He began public movements and marches to open up public drinking water resources to the untouchables.
- He also began a struggle to make dalits get the right to enter Hindu temples.
- He erased the 'Untouchables' and brought Scheduled castes and Scheduled tribes into Indian legislature.
- In 1935 , He was appointed as the Principal of Government Law College, Mumbai.
- He stocked his personal library with more than 50,000 books!!
- His wife died in 1935, by an illness, after he refused to let her visit Pandharpur, where the people shows descrimination towards dalits.
- He founded a political party named, INDEPENDENT LABOUR PARTY in 1936.
- He published a book, Annihilation of Caste in 1936.
- In his work Who Were the Shudras?, Ambedkar tried to explain the formation of untouchables.
- on 29 August, 1947, he was appointed as the Chairman of Constitution Drafting Committee.
- Ambedkar opposed article 370 of Constitution of India, which granted a special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
- Ambedkar resigned from the cabinet in 1951, when parliament stalled his draft of the Hindu Code Bill, which sought to enshrine gender equality in the laws of inheritance and marriage.
- He argued that industrialisation and agricultural growth could enhance the Indian economy.
- He studied Buddhism all his life. Around 1950, he devoted his attention to Buddhism and travelled to Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) to attend a meeting of the World Fellowship of Buddhists.
- Three days after completing his final manuscript The Buddha and His Dhamma, Ambedkar died in his sleep on 6 December 1956 at his home in Delhi.
